Packing for Ironman 70.3 Mallorca

In around 12 hours I will be on a flight, destination Mallorca and Ironman 70.3.
I’m not nervous yet, but keep thinking I will forget something while packing.
This is not normal for me as usually I just pack shorts, underwear, t-shirts and flip-flops. If I should need anything else, I could just buy it 🙂
But now.. it’s my bike, wetsuit, shoes, nutrition, racesuit and a lot more. No cheapo stuff you can just grab off the shelf somewhere.
I bought a BikeBag from a friend. It’s a really big hardcase travelbag where you should fit your bike and other stuff.
Simple? No. No.. NO!

A lot of swearwords were heard in my apartment 2 days ago when I tried to fiddle my bike into the bag.
After removing a lot on the bike It still would not fit easily with my wheels on top.
This is where years of playing TETRIS came in handy!
One thing here.. another thing there and suddenly it all fit and there were room for MORE! Wetsuite, gels, bikeshoes, running shoes etc.
I filled that sucker up to 25kg as it’s the maximal shipping weight for my bike bag 🙂
THIS BAG BETTER NOT GET LOST IN TRANSIT, YOU HEAR ME NORWEGIAN AIRLINES!?!
I saw this lost bag when going to Costa Rica

Now, I’ll just fill my regular backpack with some t-shirts, shorts, underwear and flip-flops and enjoy the evening.
As for the race:
Since I’m going with no pressure of doing a great time I can just relax and feel good. And by these means I feel I’m well prepared.
I’ve tried not to go too fast or too long this last week and finished off my tapering on Swedish soil yesterday. I did  3km warmup + 5x500m intervals with 3min breaks between them and an additional 3km cooldown. The intervals was around 3:45min/km pace.
With such a fast workout I really feel energized as I’m usually out 2 hours and more!
I’ll do some more training in Mallorca as I’m going to stay at Nextlevelcamp.com, But it will be very easy workouts as to not get fatigued for the race.
Even if I have no pressure I’m hoping to finish under 6 hours if possible. But I think it will be hard with the steep mountain on the bicycle course and also on Saturday it’s expected to be 26C degrees. If my legs die on the bicycle ascent I’ll just stop at the top grabbing myself a Cerveza 🙂
Cheers!

Break an overwhelming challenge into smaller manageable chunks.
Therefore, when exercising during this season you should make sure that you don’t exercise too much.

The first thing to mention is that you will be assigned a race number and it may be placed on your arm or leg with a marker so you can be tracked through-out the race.
